Making
Memories that Last a Lifetime
Camp
Foster is one of the oldest camps in the Midwest, and we have seen thousands of
campers at our beautiful wooded site along East Lake Okoboji. As we
approach our 100th anniversary in 2012, Camp Foster prides itself on offering
values-based programming in a natural setting. With respect for our
rich heritage, and uniting campers of today with those of the past, Camp Foster
offers a balance between traditional and progressive programming, creating new
options for the campers of the 21st century. Start a tradition of Camp Foster
in your family, and join our 100th anniversary celebration!
The
Camp Foster Experience
- Focuses
on self-discovery, self-confidence and self-esteem - all learned through
positive reinforcement, encouragement, and acceptance
- Our
progressive programs will challenge each child at an appropriate level
- Children
12 and younger are challenged by a large variety of programs
- Campers
13 and up participate in our PG13 program, which allows them to choose specialized
skill-development classes
- All
campers enjoy two hours of "free time” in the afternoon to explore their interests through a variety of exciting program options
Core
Values:
Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Honesty, Fairness
- Our
mission is for all children to have more than just a recreational experience
- Through
program activities and staff role models, all campers are exposed to our five
values
-
The programs offered at Camp Foster YMCA are
designed to teach Christian values and develop each child spiritually, mentally,
and physically
Cabin
Life
- Daily
interaction between counselors and campers is the heart of the Camp Foster
experience
- Every
cabin has ten campers of similar age and two counselors
- To
meet the needs of younger campers, we have bathrooms in many cabins – other
cabins use our modern central bathroom facility, complete with individual shower
stalls and automatic faucets
- Older
boy campers experience living in our tent decks - leading to the ultimate
Eagles Nest experience
- Cabins are air-conditioned, and tent decks have a great breeze
