What To Give

Gifts of Cash
Making a donation of cash is as simple as writing a check or authorizing a charge on your credit card. From your standpoint, it's no fuss and no bother. Find out how Camp Foster can put your contribution to work without delay.

Gifts of Securities
Stock that has increased in value is one of the most popular assets used for charitable giving, once it has been held for a minimum of a year. Making a gift of securities to us offers you the chance to help our organization while realizing many important benefits for yourself.

Gifts of Closely Held Stock
A donation of your closely held stock can be a nice way for you to make a sizable charitable contribution while realizing valuable tax benefits.

Gifts of Retirement Plan Assets
If you are like many Americans, your financial future will likely revolve around your retirement plan assets. To maximize the value of a retirement account, consider making a lifetime gift of its after-tax value to a tax-exempt deferred giving plan.

Gifts of Real Estate
Using real estate, such as your house, farm, or commercial property, to fund a gift allows you to preserve your cash assets, receive significant tax and income advantages, and make a larger charitable gift than anticipated.

Gifts of Life Insurance
Donating your life insurance could be a wonderful way to fulfill your desire to support our work. By making Camp Foster the beneficiary of an existing policy, you make good use of your resources and expand your ability to make a significant gift.

Year-End Giving

When you make a charitable gift to Camp Foster no later than December 31, you are entitled to significant tax savings while supporting our mission. The assets you give will determine your deductions when you itemize.

Cash
Your gift is fully tax-deductible up to 50% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) in the year you make your gift. You are allowed to carry over any excess deduction for five additional years.

Stock
A gift of long-term appreciated stock offers two tax savings. First, you avoid capital gains tax. Second, you receive an income tax deduction -- based on the increased value of the stock, instead of its lower cost basis -- of up to 30% of your AGI, with a five-year carryover for any excess.

Real Estate
With real estate, you can deduct the value of your gift up to 30% of your AGI, with a five-year carryover. For real estate held more than one year, you generally receive a deduction based on the property's fair market value and pay no capital gains tax.

Tangible Personal Property
By giving personal property related to our tax-exempt function, you may be eligible for a deduction for its fair market value up to 30% of your AGI, with a five-year carryover , while avoiding capital gains tax. For a gift unrelated to our function, the deduction is limited to your cost basis up to 50% of your AGI.

Endowment Gifts

Perhaps you have always said that once you are comfortable and secure, you would like to help those causes near to your heart. Only you have not yet implemented your philanthropic plans. Are you one of these well-intentioned people? If so, here is the easiest way to turn your good intentions into action.

A Gift of Your Will
You can make a charitable gift by including a bequest to Camp Foster directly in your will or revocable living trust. In doing so, you provide a pledge of future support for our mission. We can help you and your estate planning advisers develop a plan best suited to satisfy family and philanthropic goals. Please give us a call at 712-336-3272 or 800-456-9622.

Sample Bequest Language
To expedite your good intentions, here is a recommended clause for making an outright, unrestricted bequest to us.

Camp Foster YMCA is to receive ["the sum of $____" or "____ percent of my net, residuary estate after the payment of all my debts and taxes"]. This bequest is unrestricted, and the board or other governing body may use and expend the same for the benefit of Camp Foster YMCA for such charitable purposes, as it deems appropriate.

Should you wish to make a bequest to us that is restricted to a specific purpose, please contact us beforehand so we can make sure we are able to meet your request. Please call Camp Foster at 712-336-3272 or 800-456-9622 for more information.

Strong Foundation

The strong foundation is a campaign to construct cement retaining walls around camp providing a barrier to combat erosion and keep Camp Foster looking great for future generations.

Strong Kids Campaign

The YMCA and its programs have touched many lives throughout the years, but there are still many people in the community who cannot afford our programs.  The Strong Kids Campaign is designed to help these struggling families participate in the many excellent programs offered both at Camp Foster and the Bedell Family YMCA in Spirit Lake.
