Josh and his wife, Carrie, have called Camp Foster their home since 2005. Josh began his Foster experience in 1999, when he first was a summer Cabin Counselor, then a summer Program Director. After graduating from Dakota State University, Josh took a teaching job in South Dakota, then moved to the YMCA in Columbus, NE as a Program Director. After spending some time with the YMCA in Columbus, he joined the US Army as a paratrooper. He eventually found himself back into teaching and then back with the YMCA, this time back at Camp Foster. Josh, Carrie and their three jack russell boys (Airborne, Sparky, and Bodie) are home back at Foster.

Patrick Rice

Patrick's story with Camp Foster began in 2002 when he was hired on summer staff as the Nature Director and Cabin Counselor. After his second year on summer staff and graduating from Northwest Missouri State University, he was hired as the Groups and Conference Director of camp in 2003. Deciding to return to school and pursue a graduate degree, he left Foster in 2005 and moved to Washington DC. After graduating from George Mason University in 2008, he found his way back to Foster and joined the team again that fall.

Ryan Reed
Program Director

Ryan joined the Camp Foster team in 2010. Ryan started his career in camping at 14 years-old as a counselor-in-training. Since then, he has held just about every position at camp, from cabin counselor to camp director. After graduating from Xavier University, he began working professionally with camps for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Disney Cruise Line, the YMCA, and Lutheran/Episcopal Outdoor Ministries. Ryan and his dog, Socks, enjoy being at Camp Foster, and they love working with the Day Camp and Group Camping Programs!

Val came to Camp Foster in 2011. Having spent the past twelve years in the administrative field, Val brings extensive experience to the Office Manager Position. Val and her husband, Jason, along with their daughter, Paige, enjoy living in the Lakes Area and taking part in all the area has to offer. Whether you are calling in or stopping by the Camp Office, Val looks forward to working with you.

Kevin Godfredsen
Property Manager
Growing up in Spirit Lake, Kevin has seen an evolution in the Iowa Great Lakes area and in Camp. Starting at Camp Foster in 1981, Kevin was hired as Foster's second Property Manager, replacing Eric Wilkening, who gave Foster over 25 years himself. With over 30 years of experience here at Foster, there's not a pipe, outlet or building that Kevin hasn't touched. His experience and knowledge of Camp Foster history makes him an asset to the Foster team.
